Notice to Residents
Today, local officials issued a “Boil Water” Notice for residents on the following streets that get water from the City of Bay St. Louis in Hancock County: Kellar Street, Eighth Street, Victoria Street, Seventh Street and Loor Street.
Steve Thomas, spokesperson for the water system, said this precautionary action is necessary because the system lost pressure. When a water distribution system looses pressure, contaminants can siphon back into the system. Public health officials consider any system that has a loss of pressure, contaminated until tests of the water system prove otherwise. As soon as pressure is restored to those customers in the affected area, water system officials will begin collecting water samples for testing. When pressure is restored, officials recommend that consumers vigorously boil for one minute, any water to be consumed. Users will be notified when tests show the water is safe.
We apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused.
