The health, safety and well-being of our city employees are primary concerns of the administration. The new department is the hub of benefits, including health, dental and life insurance. This department monitors vacation, personal, military, sick and family medical leaves; coordinates workman’s compensation and liability issues, another very important role the division plays in the daily life of employees.
In addition the department is the mediator of disciplinary issues involving employees, co-workers and the city’s supervisory staff.
Human Resources staff accepts new applications for employment, administers tests for contractors in all disciplines, holds employee orientation, and organizes safety classes.
The other role of the Human Resources Department has a direct effect on our taxpayers, securing all insurances for city properties (buildings, lift stations, water wells and towers), automobile and truck fleet and inland-marine (other equipment); insurance coverage for the best possible prices with the greatest coverage for the city properties you own.
