Public service is defined by the Public Works teams of the City of Bay St. Louis. William B. “Buddy” Zimmerman was named Director of the department shortly after Mayor Fillingame took office. After working his way up from labor through a long career with the city, Zimmerman was a great source of information following Hurricane Katrina in restoring safe city services to residents, businesses and to the hundreds of volunteers who came to help.
Having divided the department into seven teams to better address daily city demands in water, natural gas, sewer, streets, drainage, properties and administration, the Public Works Department maintains a high level of expertise from its employees with many years of experience and dedication to the citizens they serve.
