PROJECT STATUS REPORT
MARCH 2013

1. Traffic Signal @ Bouslog – MDOT/Tice Engineers
This project includes construction of a traffic light at Highway 90 & Bouslog Street and incorporates traffic signal, expanded turning lanes and improvements to Bouslog, from Longfellow to Highway 90. Road improvements include milling, road service overlay & striping. Project was advertised October 2012. MDOT received four bids; bids should be awarded mid March, completion date 10/31/2013. Project Cost $400,000.00

2. Harbor, Phase I – Neel-Schaffer Engineering
Harbor Access Ramp work is complete, waiting for closeout. Project Cost $1.7 million.

3. Harbor & Pier, Phase II – BMA Engineering
The Harbor is currently being constructed with 163 slips, including 12 ADA accessible slips, sizes ranging from 35’ to 60’. The loading deck is 155’ long and 60’ wide with an ADA compliant wooden pier adjacent to the eastern side of the deck to facilitate ADA loading requirements. Rutherford Pier serves as the northern boundary of the harbor basin and will include a solid bulkhead wall connected to the north side of the pier to act as a breakwater structure and block sand from migrating into the basin. Pier length is approx. 1,100 linear feet. The structure includes 4 covered platforms and a 30’x50’ fishing platform with a 10’x20’ portion that is covered. The Parking Lot has 130 spaces available for boaters and Rutherford Pier visitors. Dredge material from the basin was used to expand the existing beach north of the pier from 150’ to 250’. Project Cost $21,120,124. Construction duration, 560 calendar days.
Current Update:

• Deductive Change Order #2 (total deduct in the amount of $37,497)

will be presented to the council for consideration.

• Installation of concrete piers on the Rutherford Pier is nearly complete.

• Installation of concrete cylinder piles on the southern breakwater is complete.

• Contractor began installing concrete sheet piles (closure piles) between the cylinder piles. This solid wall will eliminate wave and reduce sediment migration into the basin.

• Existing concrete beach drains are being extended to the edge of the newly installed sand beach.

4. Spanish Trail Sidewalks & Lighting – BMA Engineering
This $1,000,000.00 sidewalk project funded through MDOT extends from Main Street to city limits of Bay St. Louis. Construction will include lighting, which we are negotiating with Mississippi Power Co. to install and maintain. Work to begin Summer of 2013.
Current Update:

• Due to restrictive ROW near the ATT service center and the intersection of St. Francis and St. John, Engineers have requested a construction easement from ATT to allow the sidewalk to be installed according to ADA requirements.

• Once a lighting system is approved, Engineers will update their design drawings and request office review and ROW certification with MDOT

5. Main Street Lighting & Striping – Digital Engineering
The Main Street Project includes improvements such as decorative street lights, crosswalks, benches, trash receptacles, improved ADA ramps and caution signal at the Central Fire Station. Construction is currently underway. Webster Electric, contractor. Project Cost $1,000,000.00. Project completion date July 6, 2013

6. Hwy. 603 Lighting Repair Project – This project is funded through Federal Highway Administration Emergency Repair Funds due to Hurricane Isaac. Project repairs to begin upon availability of funds. According to MDOT, funds are presently not available to begin work.
