Mission Statement: The mission of the Bay St. Louis Police Department is to maintain social order and provide professional law enforcement services to citizens in the community, within prescribed ethical, budgetary, and constitutional constraints. The department strives to enforce the law and maintaining order in a fair and impartial manner, recognizing the need for the consistent appearance of justice. Chief Mike De Nardo recognizes that no law enforcement agency can operate at its maximum potential without the supportive input from the citizens it serves. This department actively solicits and encourages the cooperation of all our citizens to reduce and limit the opportunities for crime and to assist in bringing to justice those that violate our laws.
The Bay St. Louis Police Department's Motto is “ To Protect and Preserve our way of Life.” The department is under the leadership of Chief Mike De Nardo and is made up of 25 full-time certified Police Officers, 6 certified Reserve Officers, and 7 civilian employees. The department provides a wide array of services to the community, including patrol operations, criminal investigations, crime scene processing, search and rescue operations, narcotics enforcement teams, and water patrol section.
The department is also an active member in community support activities, such as Night Out Against Crime, Police Explorer Programs, and the Law Enforcement Torch Run. We are dedicated to our community by offering several specialized programs, such as, Eddie the Eagle Firearms Safety Course, Neighborhood Watch programs, the Child Safety Seat Program, Lady Beware, and DNA/Fingerprinting mapping for children.
